A Deep Thought Caused by a Controversial Issue

There is a widely debate all over in China, which is caused by four major traffic accidents were reported in August. The first one was a young man who was speeding and driving a Buick sedan without a driver`s license in Chengdu, which caused four death and one injured seriously. You may think it was a regular traffic accident, but the point is he was drunk-driving. The second and third cases were both happened in Hangzhou, which were quite similar to the first one. These teens were driving their parents` sporting cars and speeding without driver`s licenses on the streets, which caused five death and four injuries. They were also drunk-driving. The debate is nothing to do with whether they should drive after drank, but if the death penalties are too severe for those troublemakers.

It is really a good opportunity to introduce a part of Chinese culture, the culture of wine. The most popular beverage should be tea in China, but the cheapest liquor can be lower than one dollar in China. And I believe wine is more attractive than tea for most people. Nearly a billion of people have the habit of drinking, most of them like cars more than before in addition. This leads government has to take a serious consideration on it, and pour more effort for the enforcement of law on restrict the behavior of drunk-driving. It also caused the debate of whether these drivers should be received death penalties in the entire country.

As we known, China was the kingdom of bicycles. It turned to be the kingdom of cars at present. One of the official data shows that there are a thousand and two hundred new cars on the road every single day in Beijing. A commentary of China Daily said, “The streets in China have become the most dangerous streets in the world.”

The civilian in China are concerning and getting angry about these cases so much because they consider these are the signs of extreme disparity between the rich and the poor. These troublemakers of traffic accidents are the rich children of some local officials. These people have privileges or their relatives are working in the government, and they don`t even have to response for their guilt. These rich teens actually have something wrong with their points of value, and their parents didn`t set good examples for their children. I think our government should pour more effort on restricting the behavior of drunk-driving, and perfect the essential law of it. I consider whoever the person is for whatever reason, he should be gotten serious punishment if he drunk-driving. The best way to prevent people from commit crimes is extending the term of imprisonment or paying higher fine for speeding, even receive death penalty of it. China is still a long way to successfully turn people`s knowledge of law and order into the conscious of law and order.
