If you won a $ 1 million lottery, how would you spend your extra money? How about traveling around the world? People would consider this if they already have food and shelter. Then, why do people like to travel a lot, especially if it involves trips to other countries? Perhaps it is because we are eager to know what life is like in other parts of the earth and the interesting things we could never know if we just live in our own country, such as study abroad, like me. But before we start to schedule our worldwide trip, let’s think about a critical requirement for being able to visit other countries: having good international relations between your country and other countries in the world. In addition, healthy international relations not only give us the chance to travel around, but also a better standing position in the global community, and a better life in our own country.

International relations are important aspect of a nation’s power. The multipolarity and interdependence of a nation usually refers to the economic relations between one country and other countries, it involves both competition and cooperation. We all know that the modern world is like a big market where the country that is good at international trade will earn more money. Money can help a country to develop their national defense and other science techniques, which will build up a strong, powerful image of the country before other countries. So, the richer the country is, the more power it will have when facing a global issue. Also, this gives us the reason for the fact that all the countries have their Foreign Affairs Ministry as a part of government; it is because the Foreign Affairs Ministry is in charge of international relations and global issue resolution for the government.

International relations are also deeply relevant in our daily life. People may not believe that international relations have an influence on one’s life and liberty, but it is true. Think about the wars the America went through these past decades, such as the Vietnam War and the Iraq War, as well as the terrorism issues that meant that people could not have a peaceful life for a long time. No one can guarantee themselves a free life in a country that does not have good international relations. People’s employment is also linked with international relations. More and more foreign investment in America has appeared since 1980s. Good international relations can create people more opportunities for employment. Furthermore, consider would happen if we could not have the merchandise have a label like “Made in China” on it in America, people could not have the chance to enjoy their reasonable priced products if the relations between America and other countries were not good enough to have the basic international trade.
