I started concerning more about the international relationships among countries than ever before, probably because the topic that I am researching recently. An important guest paid a visit to China this week who is relatively affecting the trend of development between China and the United States in the next few years. That is Barrack Obama, the president of the United States. It was his first official visit to China since he inaugurated as President of the United States this year. Both Central People’s Government of PRC and Obama administration took his visit so seriously that President Hu Jingtao and Prime Minister Wen Jiabao held formal conferences with President Obama and his retinue to talk some issues, which they are both concerning about. China was the second destination of his Asian trip this time. Chinese government, especially Chinese people gladded to see that President Obama had given friendly message in Japan before he headed off to China, “The United States is not trying to stem the development of China. China and the United States are the most effective countries that they are able to help others to get over the global challenges nowadays.
First of all, for the purposes of building understanding and mutual trust; enhancing the cooperation of different areas; and promoting the development of relationships of these two countries, so President Obama visited China was meaningful for both countries. He spent more than half time of his first Asian trip to stay in China, and yet he was staying American ally, Japan, less than twenty-four hours, which showed President Obama had taken his visit to China seriously. This time, two administrations had more shared interests to discuss, such as recovery of economy, development of clean energy, prevent the spread of nuclear weapon in the world, and how to take on the global climate change. It was interesting that President Obama was a little different from those former U.S. presidents who were visiting China because human rights and Taiwan these kinds of political sensitivities were not parts of their conferences, or we can say some issues that we are facing are more practical than them. I believe Chinese people and American people are happy about the attitude of Obama administration towards the relationship of China and U.S.
The relationships of China and the U.S. have been improved a lot over the last decades. These good relationships are not only the results of efforts by governments, but also efforts by Chinese people and American people. Probably, the biggest reason is China is becoming more and more effective in the world. That is the power caught American people’s eyes. Economically, China is the second largest partner of the U.S. Not just government, even ordinary Chinese people want to be partners and friends of American people. I believe Chinese government has given the message to the world clearly that China is not the kind of country that would like to over other countries by its power.
